Jake Hohman is a man with a mission — literally. Not only is he Product Manager – Connected Showering and Faucets for Moen Incorporated, but he also serves as product lead for Mission Moen, the company’s initiative focused on innovative ways to save water and repurpose ocean plastic. Jake, 29, collaborates with various teams and leaders, including kitchen and bath product teams, component engineering teams, platform teams and supply chain leaders on product development. “Together, we are actively working towards establishing a sustainable product portfolio with components made from ocean recycled plastic, with a target of utilizing 2,000 tons of ocean plastic by 2030,” he said. “This program represents a significant stride in Moen’s sustainability journey.”
While Jake has worked for North Olmstead, OH-based Moen for the past eight years, he credits an earlier stint at home-improvement retailer Lowe’s for sparking his passion for all things plumbing-related. In his current role as Product Manager for Moen’s connected products, his enthusiasm now encompasses much more. “I take pride in the seamless integration of technological innovation and industrial design,” he said. “An excellent example of this synergy is evident in our Smart Faucet with Motion Control, where cutting-edge technology coexists harmoniously with beautiful style driven form.” Jake was also integral to the introduction of Moen’s Wallmount Tub Filler platform in 2022 and ranks it among his most gratifying career experiences.
When he isn’t extolling the qualities of Moen’s connected products line and spearheading its eco initiatives, you’ll find Jake spending time with his girlfriend, Kayla, and their dog, Lottie — including at a fun new spot: Taps and Tails, a dog park/bar. Jake also loves hanging out with his family, helping his dad with retirement projects on the family farm, cheering on the Cleveland Guardians with his mom, and finding the best Italian restaurants within 100 miles with his sister, Jenny. Some of his favorite family memories include trips to Cedar Point Amusement Park and an early obsession with roller coasters. Jake even built a K’nex replica of a Cedar Point roller coaster for a 7th-grade school science fair project that demonstrated gravity forces — and won first prize.
These days, he and Kayla enjoy creating seasonal “bucket lists” and making it their mission to live out their adventures. Next up: skiing. “It is my personal goal to become proficient in skiing, a sport that I have always been interested in but never had the bravery to take on,” he said. “I am excited to learn at smaller resorts and visit famed ski towns such as Park City and Telluride soon.”
