What You Will Learn

Have you ever wondered what you should expect from a contractor and what a contractor expects from a designer during the design and build process?

Join designer and licensed contractor, LaDonna Eriksen, as she guides you to understand the interesting dynamics of the relationship between designers and contractors (ie: selections, purchasing, billing, etc.). Once you have your team developed, it becomes a well-oiled machine which allows projects to flow easily because everyone is on the same page and works together for the same successful outcome.

During this session, you will:

  • Create a list of expectations between the designer and contractor to set yourself up for success.
  • Learn to analyze the relationship between designer, contractor, and client.
  • Discuss the division of labor between the designer and contractors.

LaDonna Eriksen has been an educator all of her life.  She taught in the Omaha area for 41 years with the final 24 years teaching Anatomy/Physiology and Genetics to Health Care pre-professionals. Her knowledge of the function of the human body is what she attributes to much of her understanding of how correct design is invaluable to making a home comfortable. Her involvement with design and construction began in 1985. She has worked with a multitude of clients creating comfortable environments in their homes.  She is especially proud of her work in the area of developing beautiful kitchens and bathrooms. LaDonna used many of her outside of the box concepts in their new home that she and her husband designed and built. Those creations surprised craftsmen working on the house as well as the visitors since they moved in July 2020.  The design, development and construction of their forever home is her greatest achievement in her field to this point and she hopes that their home will lead a movement in the residential construction industry to build all homes that are accessible, safe, healthy and comfortable for everyone
