Each afternoon at the conclusion of the Voices from the Industry (VFTI) Conference sessions at KBIS, attendees gathered for a feature newly added to the highly regarded educational programming: Wine & Design, a series of vibrant, thoughtfully curated conversations, brought learning, connection, and reflection together in a relaxed setting. Introduced this year in Orlando, these programs were held daily from 3 to 4 pm and offered VFTI registrants the opportunity to unwind with a glass of wine while engaging in meaningful dialogue with industry leaders. The VFTI conference at KBIS was generously supported by Fabuwood.
Across three popular sessions, Wine & Design explored the human-centered side of kitchen and bath design, addressing resilience, inclusivity, and wellness through real-world perspectives and shared experiences.

Moderated by Tammy Covington, President and CEO of High Point Market Authority, the conversation highlighted the role of design in restoring not just spaces, but stability, dignity, and hope. The discussion set a meaningful tone for the days ahead.
Wednesday, February 18 | Inclusive by Design: Creating Spaces for Diverse Needs and Life Stages
Wednesday’s session focused on designing for real lives and evolving needs. Featuring moderator Elizabeth Lord-Levitt, CMKBD, and panelists Jim Gurulé; Catherine Deutschlander, CKBD; and Janet Engel, the panel explored accessibility, adaptability, and inclusivity across life stages. Attendees gained practical takeaways on creating spaces that are welcoming, functional, and responsive, without sacrificing beauty or creativity.
Thursday, February 19 | The Wellness Blueprint: Spaces that Nurture Body, Mind, and Spirit
The final Wine & Design event centered on wellness as a guiding principle in design. Moderator Paula Kennedy, CMKBD, and panelists Ana Cristina Arroyo, Sandra Diaz Velasco, and Cindy Aplanalp-Ruzicka discussed how thoughtful appliance choices, layouts, and sensory considerations can support physical health, mental well-being, and emotional balance. The session offered an inspiring close to the series, reinforcing the connection between design and overall quality of life.
All three Wine & Design events were well attended by VFTI registrants, and the series underscored the strong appetite for education that blends professional insight with authentic conversation.
