The NKBA/John Burns Kitchen & Bath Market Index Survey begins collecting data for the first quarterly report of 2019. By Dianne M. Pogoda
A questionnaire about market conditions in the kitchen and bath business is rolling out today, part of NKBA’s cobranded research initiative with John Burns Real Estate Consulting that’s designed to gauge the economic health of the industry.
The initiative, dubbed the NKBA/John Burns Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI), is published quarterly and is based on responses from designers, manufacturers, retailers and building/construction firms who are members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
If you are asked to participate in this quick, confidential survey, please share your professional perspectives and let your voice be heard. Watch your inbox for the invitation to take the 5-minute survey. The survey will accept responses now through April 19.
KMBI results will help industry professionals gauge their business performance against that of the industry at large and help determine a course of action in anticipation of future market opportunities and challenges.
The results of the Q1-2019 survey will be available in early May. To access NKBA’s inaugural KBMI Report, which set an index benchmark of 69.2 for the 4thquarter of 2018 , click here.
Overall, according to the Q4-2018 Index, NKBA members expect their kitchen and bath sales to grow 6.6% in 2019, up slightly over their actual growth of 5.6% in 2018.Retailers and manufacturers forecast growth of 7.2% and 7.1%, while designers and building/construction firms expect sales to spike 6.4% and 6.3%, respectively. (Note: This Q4-2018 inaugural survey is based on 563 company responses.)
