Research

If you haven’t participated yet, don’t miss your chance—the 2027 Kitchen Trends Survey closes this week, and this year’s participation comes with even more opportunities to win.

All NKBA Chapters with 15 or more completed survey responses will be entered into a raffle. Everyone from that chapter who completes the survey will be eligible to win one of three NKBA Prize Packs filled with fan-favorite swag from L2L, including NKBA-branded lip balm, mints, measuring tape, pens, and notebooks.

In addition, every member who completes the survey will automatically be entered into a separate drawing for a chance to win one of five $500 gift cards.

Please check your email for your personal survey link and be sure to participate before the deadline. This is a great opportunity to share your perspective, represent your chapter, help shape the future of the kitchen and bath industry—and maybe pick up some fun NKBA perks along the way.

NKBA Research is excited to share that the U.S. Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI) will officially launch on June 17, and during the same field period, we will also be piloting a Canadian KBMI for the first time.

We encourage all Chapter Officers and members to participate in the survey that best applies to them.

Participation in the Canadian pilot is especially important as we work to build a strong foundation for the Canadian KBMI. Our goal is to make this a successful launch so we can deliver the same meaningful insights and industry data for Canadian members that we’ve been able to provide in the U.S., while also strengthening our understanding of each market individually and of North America overall.

Please keep an eye on your email for your survey invitation. If you do not receive one and would like to participate, please reach out to marketresearch@nkba.org.

And one final reminder—if you haven’t already, we invite you to join the Kitchen & Bath Pro Hub, NKBA’s dedicated research community. It’s a great place to connect with peers, share insights, help shape the future of NKBA Research—and earn rewards along the way.

Webinars & Virtual Events

Students & Educators

Presenters wanted! Share your expertise with the next generation of designers at NKBA’s annual Student Design Symposium. This live, 2.5-hour virtual conference is scheduled for 12 PM EST on Friday, September 25. Please email kryan@nkba.org if you have a presentation idea. We are currently seeking Chapter Officers and other experts to deliver 20-minute breakout sessions via Zoom.

The inaugural NKBA | KBIS Student Mentor Program successfully wrapped up on May 1. Thank you to all who participated as mentors in this program. If you’d like to participate as a mentor in the future, we recommend watching our program’s closing webinar, which includes powerful testimonials from students and mentors. We’ll release an application for the next round of mentors this fall. The program is scheduled to run through the Spring 2027 semester.

We are grateful to KOHLER for their sponsorship in supporting the next generation of kitchen and bath professionals.

Government Relations

NKBA actively monitors legislation and public policy developments impacting the kitchen and bath industry, sharing key updates each month through our Government Relations Newsletter. A repository of newsletters, as well as additional resources to self-advocate on issues important to you, can be found on the Government Relations webpage.

Hot topics this month include:

U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC): The USITC recommends a tariff-rate quota (TRQ) on imports of quartz surface products, including slabs and fabricated quartz surface products, for a four-year period in its investigation regarding imports of quartz surface products.

U.S. Workforce Development: The U.S. Departments of Education and Labor announce a milestone in federal efforts to strengthen alignment across education and workforce systems as 21 states submit Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) State Plans to address workforce challenges as part of the Trump Administration’s America’s Talent Strategy.

U.S. Housing: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) rescind the 2024 Biden Administration policy that sought to implement the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as a mandatory nationwide standard for new home construction.

Alaska: House passes Bill 314 which would add registered interior designers to the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors and establish requirements for the practice of registered interior design while allowing unlicensed practice of interior design if the practitioner does not use the title “registered interior designer.”

We hope you benefit from the value these resources bring to you, your profession, and the kitchen & bath industry. Please reach out directly to Steven Campeau, NKBA’s Senior Manager, Global & Government Relations at scampeau@nkba.org, for any specific questions.
