Thirty Under 30: Mariah Hebenthal
Mariah Hebenthal is one of the outstanding young professionals in NKBA’s Thirty Under 30 Class of 2026.
By Donna Heiderstadt
Mariah Hebenthal took charge of her bedroom decor at a young age, trading up as she grew up from a colorful Tinkerbell-inspired theme to a more sophisticated motif by using three Sherwin-Williams paint colors — SW6558 Plummy along with SW6154 Nacre and SW7022 Alpaca in a hexagon design for an accent wall — to create her ideal surroundings. “To this day my mother still owns the home, and the room still remains that way,” says the 29-year-old. “Anyone who has known me would not be surprised by either room design!”
Mariah always dreamed of a career where she could shine in a leadership role — and she’s found it. As a Designer Account Executive at Sherwin-Williams in Bellevue, WA since 2019, she serves the Greater Seattle and Alaska regions and in her market is considered an expert for residential design with a deep knowledge of luxury colors and paint solutions. Through her extensive involvement with local industry organizations, Mariah also has endeavored to shift the perceptions of designers who are firmly committed to using her competitors’ products and color palettes.

Meanwhile, her technical acumen has earned Mariah the title of “tech guru” among her Sherwin-Williams colleagues and she’s well known for acing public speaking engagements, such as leading CEU courses. Among her most memorable career moments? Successfully planning and executing the Seattle Sherwin-Williams Colormix 2026 event this past October.
Mariah, who says the one word that best describes her is “passionate,” is also very active in her local NKBA chapter and has served as the Entrant Chair for the NKBA Puget Sound Design Competition Committee for four consecutive years, managing the online competition system and entry moderation. Her contributions have helped the chapter earn prestigious accolades, including the 2025 Best Chapter Design Competition Star Award. “Besides my NKBA accomplishments, I am most proud of being the longest running Designer Account Executive for Sherwin-Williams Seattle in the history of my territory,” she says.
When she’s not leading and networking, Mariah enjoys sewing and doing projects around the home she shares with her partner of 11 years, Liam, and their tortoiseshell kitten, Kiko. The couple always makes time, however, for an annual vacation at Disneyland. “I absolutely love any Disney park or resort during special seasons like Halloween or the holidays,” she says.
Future plans call for visiting Italy, Australia, and Monaco during the Grand Prix. Closer to home, Mariah dreams of one day owning a huge piece of property where she can have horses. “Ideally, we would be somewhere in the Pacific Northwest,” she says, “as my heart truly belongs in this amazing corner of the world.”
