The NKBA Texas North Plains Chapter hosted a dynamic Student Symposium from September 4 to 5, drawing nearly 180 interior design students from across the region for two days of immersive learning, networking, and real-world industry exposure. Held in collaboration with the American Society of Interior Designers and the Interior Design Society, the event brought together students from Collin College, Heritage School for Interior Design, Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University, the University of North Texas, and several area high schools. The two-day symposium offered a comprehensive overview of the kitchen, bath, and interior design industries through showroom tours, panel discussions, and professional networking sessions.
On Thursday, students boarded three tour buses for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at leading showrooms, including Reece Bath + Kitchen, ProSource Wholesale, Cantoni Trade, and Cosentino. Each stop offered students a unique perspective on product innovation, materials, and client experience in the professional design world.
The Friday program took place at the Dallas Market Center, where students attended panel discussions with industry experts, networked with established designers, and connected with local design leaders. The sessions encouraged open dialogue about career paths, professional development, and the realities of working in kitchen and bath design.
“The Student Symposium is an incredible opportunity to connect emerging talent with the professionals and brands shaping our industry,” said NKBA Texas North Plains Chapter leader Andrew Risinger, CMKBD, CR. “We’re grateful to ASID and IDS for partnering with us to make this year’s event such a success.”
