What You Will Learn

When we think about technology in homes, the first things that come to mind are security systems, audio, and visual entertainment and, more recently, lighting. But there’s so much more to it! So, how about adding 61 million people to your possible client list? Today there are 61 million people that live with disabilities in the United States. There are a multitude of ways that technology can make their homes more accessible, functional, and livable. This session will provide insight into the disabilities that these people deal with daily, technology that you can bring to them to assist with their activities throughout the day, as well as some interactive time to brainstorm ideas that you may have that can improve the lives of others.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the interprofessional team and the role of the system integrator on that team
  • Discover how simple assistance technology can create a customer forever
  • Illustrate the forms of technology that can be utilized by everyone including the 61 million disabled people in the U.S. to make their lives better
