K&B Market Index has Strengthened for a Third Consecutive Quarter, Nearing Levels not Seen Since Q4 2019

The NKBA/John Burns Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI) is a quarterly gauge of current and future economic conditions within the kitchen & bath industry. A total of 524 NKBA members across industry segments, including design, building and construction, manufacturing and retail sales,  participated. Results are compared with each of the four previous quarters to tease out trends. Along with various economic variables and notable industry shifts, the report delves into the most pressing challenges and includes both member concerns and those of their clients.

Key Takeaways
The overall K&B index was 79.8, deep within expansion territory and well above the 65.0 from Q4 2020.
Current conditions, with a score of 78.0, crushed last quarter’s 59.8.
Optimism about the future remains very strong and broad-based, scoring 82.4 vs the previous 72.7.
Full year 2021 industry sales are expected to be a substantial 13.4% higher than last year.
Despite extraordinary sales growth, industry challenges continue to increase, particularly material costs and supply chain disruptions.
