What You Will Learn
This course explores the trends of Resi-Mercial design which blends residential-like and commercial elements to create functional stylish spaces. The course will cover how residential appliances used in settings like offices, hotels, and healthcare to improve comfort and end-user experiences. The course also looks at important factors like power, customization and how to seamlessly fit these appliances into commercial settings. Finally, it provides guidances on when to use Resi-Mercial appliances highlighting best uses for them where they may not be suitable.

- Understand Concept of Resi-Mercial Design – Clear understanding of key-characteristics and benefits of blending residential and commercial elements into various applications.
- Identify Key Applications of Resi-Mercial – identify appropriate applications for Resi-Mercial appliances on commercial settings including front of house, self-serve, and light load usages while understanding limitations for uses in high demand areas.

Madison Fitzgerald brings more a decade of experience spanning hospitality, entertainment, public relations, and marketing, with roots in some of the most recognized hotels, restaurants, and nightlife venues on the Las Vegas Strip. Her career has centered on relationship building, strategic partnerships, and industry engagement in support of both residential and commercial design communities.
Madison has deep experience leading consultant engagement, education, and specification efforts across North America, working closely with foodservice consultants, designers, dealers, and industry partners to drive project opportunities, develop educational programming, and support innovative solutions across hospitality, workplace, healthcare, senior living, and entertainment environments. She was instrumental in identifying and developing the Resi-Mercial™ channel, bridging the gap between luxury residential design and commercial foodservice applications.
A passionate advocate for industry education and collaboration, Madison has led designer and consultant training programs, CEU development, and professional development initiatives for the design and foodservice consulting communities. She is the Past President of the NKBA Southwest Desert and remains actively involved with NKBA, IDS, ASID, NEWH, and SHFM, where she continues to support the advancement of design in hospitality.

Previously, Meghan served as Global Vice President of Design Consultant Services for Middleby, a global food and beverage leader with more than $4 billion in annual revenue and a portfolio of over 60 industry-leading commercial and residential brands for nearly a decade.
Prior to Middleby, Meghan was Brand Director for Scotsman, an Ali Group company, where she led brand strategy, channel engagement, research and insights, and hospitality industry relations initiatives.
Since entering the hospitality industry in 2004, Meghan has built a career spanning nearly every segment of hospitality and foodservice. She holds degrees and certifications in marketing, communications, hospitality and professional sales and began her culinary journey working in back-of-house catering operations.
A Certified Foodservice Professional (CFSP) and Hospitality Beverage Specialist, Meghan serves on the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) Young Executive Forum, the Society for Hospitality Foodservice Management (SHFM) Industry Advisory Board and was most recently elected to the Writers and Speakers Bureau. She also serves on the Supplier Board for Agora Sustainability. She has been recognized as an SHFM Rising Star (2019–2021), received the SHFM Julie Flik Award in 2024, and was named a Women’s Foodservice Forum (WFF) Change Maker in 2020.
Her work has also earned numerous honors, including Platinum MarCom, Hermes Creative and Muse Awards, along with the O’Connell Award for Achievement, Scholarship and Service.
A Chicago native, Meghan is passionate about the intersection of food, beverage, technology and design, and is a dedicated advocate for developing the next generation of hospitality leaders through mentorship, education and the sharing of knowledge.
