JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: Designer, Kitchen & Bath
We are looking for someone who enjoys designing kitchens and bathrooms, working with clients, and helping them through the selection process. Candidate should have: A solid background in the kitchen and bath industry, excellent CAD computer skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of a broad range of products, installation techniques, and understanding of all trades relevant to the project. Able to create a complete set of plans for the field. Ability to interact well with clients, vendors and staff is a must. Proficiency with Chief Architect (or similar CAD program) as well as Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ownership of a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
1.) Cabinetry & Counters
a) Meet with clients initially to discuss project design details.
b) Responsible for the complete design, selection process, and ordering of all cabinetry and counters.
c) Be available to direct the installation of all cabinetry and all counters.
d) Has final responsibility to ensure that all products specified in a kitchen, bar or bath cabinetry application are appropriate for the intended use. Only 100% accuracy is acceptable.
e) Provide final layout information to the Production Manager for all trades associated with areas of responsibility, including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, tile, counter, hardware, etc.
2.) Maintain Cabinet Schedule
a) Ensure anticipated delivery of cabinetry and counters coincides with project schedule.
b) Advise the Production Manager if there is any deviation from expectations.
c) Coordinate with field receipt of cabinetry and counters.
d) Provide Trades with selections with specifications, if necessary.
e) Note and communicate special client requests.
f) Work with fellow employees to ensure damaged or undelivered items are accounted for and appropriate follow-up action taken. (Re-order, financial settle w/ manufacturer, etc.)
3.) Client Communication
a) Perform all pricing functions for cabinets, counters and hardware.
b) Prepare and present pricing information to clients. If allowances apply and prior to placing order, make client aware of overage/underage of allowance.
c) Communicate final pricing and allowance impact to Office Manager.
d) Obtain final approval from clients regarding all details in the cabinetry, counters and hardware.
e) Be fully aware of what is included in the Scope of Work, and be alert to work or products being provided outside the scope.
4.) Client Selections
a.) Meet with clients
b.) Discuss project design details.
c.) Identify client’s ability to make selections independently and timely.
d.) Determine that all selections fit space properly.
e.) Record all selections as required.
a) Meet with potential Clients.
b) Determine whether potential clients are ‘a good fit’ for this Company.
c) Determine process to be followed with each sales opportunity.
d) Write Proposal.
e) Present proposal to clients.
a) Provide assistance to the estimator in the preparation of proposals and/or change orders as requested.
b) Continue to pursue industry certifications and professional development.
c) Monitor appearance and cleanliness of the office and showroom common areas, and personal office.
