Join us Tuesday 1/26/2016 as we explore the effects of the natural aging process and the design implications that result from the privilege of aging with independence.

Kimberly Kerl is a professional residential designer from Greenville, SC. She is a member of the NKBA, Associate AIA, invited speaker for KBIS 2015 and an instructor for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

The fastest growing segment of our society is the senior population. It is estimated that persons over the age of 65 will account for 21 percent of the US population by 2040. The vast majority of seniors would prefer to stay in their homes as they age, yet our homes and the products designed for our homes do not accommodate the unique needs of this rapidly expanding segment of society. Throughout her career, Kimberly Kerl has studied, executed and lectured on the principles of Universal Design. She has focused solely on the design of custom homes and home renovations since 2000.
