Do you want to show your work in the best possible light? A growing body of science supports the many benefits of daylighting, while the energy savings are irrefutable. But indiscriminate daylighting can cause glare, discomfort, and overheating. The trick is to find a balanced approach. This seminar will show you dozens of innovative, state of the art projects that feature natural illumination done well, including many from past NKBA Design Award winners.

Learning Objectives:
Learn daylighting techniques to increase homeowner comfort, safety, and satisfaction. Discuss how to design spaces that have lower energy costs by utilizing free solar radiation. Describe daylighting possibilities that are most suited to specific projects and budgets.

About the Speaker:
Architect Doug Walter will serve as a subject matter expert on the working group charged with updating the NKBA Kitchen & Bathroom Planning Guidelines. He also served on the joint NAHB-AARP committee in 2000, that created the CAPS certification, and wrote part of the curriculum. A winner of 140 local and national design awards, his work has appeared in over 230 magazine articles and he is a frequent conference speaker.
